Safest places to live in America

U.S. counties ranked by lowest violent crime rate per 100,000 residents.

Crime data coming soon

County-level crime figures are being compiled from the FBI Crime Data Explorer and will be added to this ranking shortly. The FBI's transition to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) in 2021 caused reporting gaps at the county level: some agencies haven't fully migrated, so the data needs careful cleaning to be comparable across the country.

Once published, this page will rank counties by lowest violent crime rate per 100k residents, with breakdowns for property crime and uninsured-rate context. Each county profile will link to its FBI Crime Data Explorer page for verification.

About this data

LiveWhere uses the FBI Crime Data Explorer as its source for county-level crime statistics. Definitions follow the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS); violent crime includes homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. We aggregate the most recent full-year filings available.
